GLASS Events would like to thank you all for being part of our community project and we hope you all enjoyed the exhibition & Awards Ceremony on Monday. Your input has been much appreciated and we have had such a great response from the public, press and Bournemouth Borough Council.

We hope you have all had a great experience getting involved - it's great to see a wide selection of such creativity in our community.

We will be keeping you all informed on any further development within the exhibition process this summer on the Pier, also we will keep in contact with you all on whether you would like to sell your photographs in the future.

Day 3 of the Exhibition

The sun is back out! Hurray! Day 3 was really busy in the pier, the whole team were out with sun glasses on. We had a couple of interviews on site creating press and competition entrants were out spotting their photographs.

Off to a great start with the exhibition being featured in Saturday's Daily Echo, with a few lucky entries showcased to the Bournemouth community, inviting the public down

With the weather not as amazing as yesterday's, we thought we would be in trouble but the pier was just as busy, from tourists, student and locals. We even managed time for an ice cream!

Here are a few highlights from today, it was awesome to see how many people were interested in the historical photographs wanting to know more about what thing were like.

This selection of photographs illustrates the diversity, culture and community within Bournemouth which still view the pier as a historic, recognised and respective landmark within their town. The seaside persona is part of Bournemouth's upbringing, it's one of the reason why we love it!

We were nearly swamped at one point! Crowd control! Must have been the lunchtime rush...

Day 1 of the Exhibition

We couldn't have asked for better weather, I had to go back to my house and collect my sun glasses it was that good.

8.45am the GLASS Events team arrived at the pier spirits high to put up the exhibition, sponges and buckets at the ready to spring clean the pier ready we were surprised to see the divide was spotless!

Our friends in the sea front team had already been busy cleaning it ready for the exhibition, so we would just like to give special thanks to them and their hard work as it really helped us out.

Even as we were putting the exhibition up we had on lookers, it was turning out to be a busy Friday from such good weather.

Through the Lens feature in the Daily Echo

As part of Bournemouth's 200 year anniversary, students from the Arts University College Bournemouth devised the Through The Lens project. Photographers from across the town were asked to submit pictures documenting Bournemouth's culture and history.

The photographs, supplemented by images from Bournemouth Library's archive, have been turned into a exhibition, including photos of Bournemouth’s centenary celebrations in 1910.

We asked the organisers to pick their favourites from the exhibition - and here they are. You can see the full exhibition on Bournemouth Pier from Friday until Monday.

GLASS Events team antics in the sunshine!

Getting ready for the weekend's exhibition ahead, the GLASS Events team took a trip to the beach to prepare marketing and the site!

Here are a few pictures of what they got up to, out and about in Bournemouth...

Award Ceremony 8th March 2010

This is a save the date post, invitations will be going out early this week so please be patient for yours! We are inviting all participants of the project and their family and friends to celebrate Bournemouth's 200 years through photography.

The award ceremony will be held at Hot Rocks, hosted by international photographer, Andy Earl and guest speaker, Martin Coyne who led the workshops in the project.

There will also be a private view of the exhibition that evening where the pier will be opening later for the occasion. We hope to see you all there.

Community Photography Exhibition

Through the Lens is offering the community the chance to have their photographs in an exhibition on Bournemouth historic landmark the pier. The exhibition consists of the competition entries with a selection of Bournemouth library's archive.

The exhibition will run from the 5th - 8th March 2010 along the pier celebrating the people and history of Bournemouth town. The exhibition will be judged by a panel including Andy Earl, successful photographer in the international music industry.

To be part of the project entry rhe competition to be exhibited along Bournemouth's historical landmark, the Pier.

Anything about Bournemouth that is special to you - it could be your favourite place, people enjoying their hobbies, a picnic in the park, celebrating a special occasion, a community event, sport or spectators, enjoying a special place, almost anything! There are lots of possibilities out there!

The photos must be taken within Bournemouth from the past to present. Make sure you provide a caption for your photograph and be sure to get permission if taking photos of other people.

Photos can be any size up to A4 (21 x 30cm)

1. By submitting a photograph to this competition you are agreeing to allow GLASS events to use your photo during the event for marketing and promotional purposes.
2. All photos submitted and displayed in the exhibition will be donated to Bournemouth Library to be part of the historic collection
3. All photos submitted to the competition will be displayed in an online gallery in collaboration with the Daily Echo
4. Photos printed and submitted must be no larger than A4
5. Photos submitted must be no smaller than 800 x 600 pixels
6. By submitting you must have permission from the people within the photograph and respect any copy right laws.
7. All photographs submitted cannot be returned, we suggest to scan and print
8. GLASS events will not be responsible for the breach of any of the above terms and conditions.
